Description
The APMT has three technical and operational directorates for climate change: the Adaptation Directorate, the Mitigation Directorate, and the Directorate of the Joint Mitigation and Adaptation Mechanism. The institutional strategic objectives of the APMT, articulated with the 2021-2025 PDES, are: 1) To establish positions as a country aimed at defending the Rights of Mother Earth at the international level, in subregional, regional, and multilateral organizations; ii) To promote the comprehensive management and sustainable use of Mother Earth's forests and life systems to address the causes and reduce deforestation and forest degradation, in a context of climate change mitigation and adaptation; iii) Develop public policies, programs, and projects in coordination with all levels of government and organized civil society to define climate change mitigation goals aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, conserving energy, and developing low-carbon energy. iv) Develop climate change adaptation instruments with an operational framework, implementing them in areas of greatest vulnerability to climate change and natural disasters in coordination with all levels of government to prevent and minimize associated damage and risks through technological innovation and the preservation of ancestral knowledge.
The five-year budget for the PEI APMT 2021-2025 is Bs. 172,000,000 (one hundred seventy-two million bolivianos).
